A TRIP TO BABYLONSTOREN | SOUTH AFRICA
8/31/2017
Since 1692, the historic Cape Dutch style Babylonstoren has been one of the most breath-taking fruit and wine farms in the Cape and is every photographer’s dream considering the Simonsberg, Du Toitskloof and Franschoek mountains acts as a remarkable backdrop.
It’s glorified garden (comprising fruit, vegetables, berries, bees for pollinating, indigenous plants, fragrant lawns, a prickly pear maze, farm animals, and more) is divided by a cloistered walkway running along the stream which gets lit up by thousands of clivias in spring.
Along with some of the farms original structures from the 17thcentury, Babylonstoren’s Cape Dutch werf (farmyard) is anarchitectural gem and is considered as one of the best preserved farmyards in the Cape.
