SINGAPORE TRAVEL TIPS | TRAVEL JOURNAL

3/03/2018

It is no secret that Singapore is one of the most breathtaking cities in the world. Even after spending a month and a half in the Garden City,  I have still not seen all it has to offer. But I will, however, share with you everything I have experienced during my stay in this beautiful city, swell as a few useful tips on how to survive your stay, or at least to make it a little easier.

AIRLINES

Every traveler knows that choosing the right airline is very important. Your experience at the airport sets the mood for your entire trip since this is where your getaway starts, swell as where it begins. That is why I recommend using Singapore Airlines when flying in and out of Singapore.

Not only are the flight attendants dressed in the most beautiful uniforms I have ever seen, but they will treat you like royalty, whether you are flying business class or economy.

ACCOMMODATION

Where you stay in Singapore all depends on how long you are planning on staying. For a short stay of up to two weeks, there is a big range of hotels available. the most famous of these would be the Marina Bay Sands. Not only does it house the world's longest rooftop infinity pool, but their sky bar and lounge have a spectacular view of the city.

If you are staying in Singapore for more than two weeks, like I did, I suggest staying in a serviced apartment, because hotels like Marina Bay Sands can get really expensive really quickly. During our stay, My family and I stayed in the Great World City Serviced Apartments. These apartments include all the benefits a hotel would have (swimming pool, tennis court, gym, jacuzzi, business center, etc.). The only thing it lacks is the restaurant, which I actually think is a good thing, it forces you to try food from the local food courts (amazing BTW).

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Bus / MRT - One of the reasons Singapore is such a great city is because of their great public transport system. Not only are they limiting pollution, but they are also making it extremely easy to get where you need to be. After we've settled in, we went to the closest MRT station (Mass Rapid Transit) and got our public transport cards. These cards are used to pay for every bus or MRT ride you will take.

Taxi - Another big form of public transport in Singapore is taxis. It might be the more expensive option, but it very convenient, especially if you are on a tight schedule.

APPS

Phone apps play a big part in the convenience that is traveling in and around the city. It will make it much easier to find a taxi or to find out what exact bus or MRT will take you where you need to be. Here are some useful apps that will make your stay in Singapore so much easier:

Taxi - Uber, Grab, ComfortDelGrado

Bus / MRT - gothere.sg lite, Citymapper

Food - UberEats, Deliveroo
